Microsoft founder Bill Gates has a critique of cryptocurrency like Bitcoin. Gates sees the anonymous nature of the crypto system can cause death.
Anonymity is the inherent trait of the crypto currency. Any ownership of the crypto currency will not display the name of the owner, only a virtual address consisting of numbers and letters.
While Gates, who often gets the title of the richest man in the world, is not so fond of the anonymity.
"The government's ability to track money laundering and tax evasion and terrorist financing is a good thing," Gates said.
Another downside of the anonymity of the crypto currency is that it can be used to buy illegal drugs freely on the internet. This is what Gates crypto currency can cause death.
"Currently crypto currency can be used to buy Fentanyl and other medicines, this is a rare technology that can cause direct death," he added as quoted by The Telegraph, Wednesday (28/2).
According to Gates this is different from the use of cash to buy illegal drugs because the offender must actually exist physically so the transaction will be more difficult.
Fentanyl itself is a kind of medicine used to relieve pain without losing consciousness. Fentanyl is considered to have an effect like heroin that is often misused.
