Karapan Sapi is native culture of Madura, which has been known since the 14th century. At the beginning, sapi/bull used only for transportation on Madura. Madura soil is unfertile for farming, so they become fishermen or cattlebreeder. Once upon a time a cleric Syeh Ahmad Baidawi (Pangeran Katandur) introduces a new method of farming by using a pair of bamboo known as "Nanggala" or "salaga" drawn by two cows to plowing the rice field.
