This whole thing is very similar to what is happening with COPPA vs Youtube,... they first created gigantic corporations that were spying on everyone, then make the public angry at the corporations for years, and then, with the excuse of "protecting privacy" they will start deleting millions of channels on youtube, and start fining people who have them and also people who have websites (via the CCPA californian law, all coming into effect in 2020.
