A Christmas miracle: Flanders gathers 10.8 million in 7-day fundraiser

in news •  7 years ago

The "Warmest week of the year" has raised more than 10 million euro's in one week, hereby breaking last year's record of 7 million. The goal is to bring in as much money as possible to support various good causes such as Mediclowns or Move to improve.

Everyone in and out of Flanders, Belgium, is allowed to join, and set up their own mini fundraiser for the Warmest week. In my daily life, I saw people Christmas Caroling or selling homemade brownies and other delights. Other projects involved riding up the Mont Ventoux mountain in France to raise money, but people as well organized quizzes or made a one-day-crusade to local the local pilgrimage town of Scherpenheuvel.

I'm very happy to see that there's still a lot of people out there wanting to make a difference!
