I totally agree with you. I stopped watching and listening to news just because of that. Everyday media is just filled with violence, politics, wars, natural disasters, sick people, poverty... I'm not some cold-hearted human being, quite the opposite. But it's really stupid to think that everything is so bad. I know people are corrupt, some politicians are just for the number, that violence is going up and the difference in wealth between regular workers and office people is getting biger, etc.. But, what can I do about it? Nothing. I know I could always give away all my belongings to someone who has less. And I could be unhappy because of things happening around. But yet again. Who would benefit from that. Insteed being sane human being trying to do my best with my own life and for my family I could just easily focus on life of others, sacrifising everything. I'm not selfish, I help others in any way that I can, but on my own terms and without negative perspective from media.

@rok-sivante - We always tend to focus on the imperfections in an otherwise normal scenario. Perhaps it is the evolution of human mind over centuries to spot the negatives (to combat potential danger) that does this. However - you are right. We need to overcome the instinct to focus on negative and look at the overall positives that have been achieved. Rome was not built in one day.
Cheers. Thanks for sharing your valuable views. Upvoted full.

Inspiring!

Media is biased. Thanks for posting.

yeah its because of the media and their paid negative news that we focus only on the negatives! Absolutely correct!

I must disagree on this, because we have choice.

Yes, media exerts influence. Though it’s the litmus test of intelligence to take everything that comes through media at face value or think for ourselves and choose our own focus.

yeah agree.. but what im trying to say is.. what if the media only presents negative.. in that case all u have in front of you is the negative... how do you filter that..???

change your media source.

I like what you just said. Honestly. true that.
Yeah so.. can you recommend a few honestly positive media sources to follow..???
im sure you'd know...

What a beautiful post!!! It is so refreshing to hear good news!!! We as humanity should be proud of our accomplishments and give ourselves credit for the good that has been done. These statistics prove that mankind is evolving consciously towards love and abundance and that humans are essentially progressing toward the higher good of all mankind.

well said!

🙌🙏

@rok-sivante very well said "Amazing World" reason in this world so many different generations lives with their lifestyle and i love your post good luck for feature post

excellent post

Thank you for sharing this important information, interesting take on the way the world currently is, or perceived to be in contrast to where we once were.

Your welcome. 🙏

great historical story

wow grate post ....i like this..
i have some post .....you can check
here @letsmakes

indeed.. an amazing world... i feel its more about the perception of looking at things!
Also.. blame the media , as they spread negative news and insecurity.. for generating TRP....

As mentioned above, I disagree.

There can be no blame if attempting to move forward. The system is what it is. It doesn’t need codmnation for its flaws - rather, understanding and upgrading of culture through the people who run them...

Yes, we do have a choice and there are much more of positive news and all those feel good movements out there if we want to have them. It shocked me to realise that it takes decades to change things, in global level. It showed us how stubborn we are, somehow, as a society. How if we never see the end of the line? Some said that there are not enough hours in a day and then people overestimate what they can accomplish in a year and underestimate what they can accomplish in a decade. I think Bill Gates said something like that. If we can stop blaming others or things, maybe we can get things done faster as we focus our minds solely on finding the solution and mastering the reflection of self, instead of others to blame.

True that.

Perhaps it's an effect of the instant-gratification generation of TV channel switching and rapid Instagram feeds that we've become so impatient to not extend the vision further out into the future. We are a far ways off from the Japanese and ancient native tribes who'd Plan like 7 generations into the future. Anyways... your final statement sums it up rather excellently:

maybe we can get things done faster as we focus our minds solely on finding the solution and mastering the reflection of self, instead of others to blame.

Instant gratification. That’s what my little boy craves every time his hunger strikes. So I get a timer on, counting every second how long I could get everything ready and feed him, otherwise he will cry louder as he doesn’t get the instant gratification.

I am still guilty of it, even though I am not a baby anymore. So I guess it’s in us, deep inside us? I want things happen fast. I get impatient of not having what I need. Is it just human to always want an instant gratification? Or, is it just us, the Insta-generation? All I can see, that’s one of our many problems.

lol. well, maybe he gets a pass since he is only a few weeks old and probably does need immediate nutrition more than a fully-grown adult... :-)

hahaha yes indeed!

If we left it to the news media to define our view of the world, we would all be afraid to step outside!

I don't watch much news... And my neighbors are of every race and religion, and I don't see the hate in my city that is portrayed on the news.

Great post!!

Amen.

I recall it spelled out wonderfully by Matt Kahn in one of his videos once - whereas many are super fearful that the world is falling to shit, what does he see when he looks out the window... famines smiling, birds, trees.

Or like, I came across some posts about how horrible Canada is turning out as some corrupt apocalyptic police state, blah blah blah... yet, I absolutely LOVE Vancouver, drive around every day inspired by the beauty, the warmth of the people, and even view the police and government in a whole new positive light after having gone and experienced the third world.

Our focus really does determine our experience of reality. There are always both the good and bad. Choosing which to filter makes quite the difference in our relationship with the world...

I remember reading somewhere before this was one of the most peaceful times we are in.

Who knows eh? I guess the more we get into utopia, the more minor things we will be pissed off about.

Like maybe in the future, people would look back and be like, "Holy shit, these guys were using... GUNS?!?!" or "These guys had had had.... RELIGION!!!!"

or some shit

Probably... I mean sure, there are still conflicts going on in the Middle East and Africa, but world wars and mass genocides have definitely declined. National crime has probably been declining, despite what one might think from watching the news. There is such a widespread push towards peaceful reconciliation in and between nations. Alot of positive change on many fronts.

And yeah, haha! As much as the paranoid conspiracy theorist Americans think the government is trying to setup another holocaust by first taking away their guns, isn’t there something like 10,000 deaths per year due to guns in the US - and look at Australia’s rates when they outlawed guns.

So yeah, interesting times these are...

Isn't this the part we all say, "Oh because bad news sell better?"

Conspiracy theories are chocked full of confirmation bias. They just want unhappy and unsatisfied people to think, "This so true!" when the truth is their life sucks.

Conspiracy theories are chocked full of confirmation bias.

YEP.

They just want unhappy and unsatisfied people to think

I'd counter-argue this point. The whole "they" approach is kinda flawed, itself a form of cognitive bias in trying to pinpoint blame on someone "out there."

I think such a theory (itself) gives far overestimates the intelligence of man to plan out such intentions, when its much more likely the bullshit is just an unintentional propagation of ignorance and consequences of distorted communication, like the kids' "telephone" game where the news is completely different by the time it gets to the end of the line.

Of course, I could be wrong. There are definitely alot of layers to it...

NO.
