Asia Argento Blames Anthony Bourdain for Payoff

in news •  6 years ago

This will not be a long article. I had already made clear my disgust with Asia Argento in my video essay from Sunday, #MeToo, not for #TheeToo. But as little as it should come as a surprise, Ms. Argento has made matters worse. In a statement provided to New York Magazine writer Yashar Ali, the Italian actress blamed her ex-boyfriend, Anthony Bourdain, for the hush-money paid to Jimmy Bennett. The same Anthony Bourdain who cannot defend himself, since his tragic suicide nearly three months ago.

Antony [sic] insisted that the matter be handled privately and this was also what Bennett wanted. Anthony was afraid of the possible negative publicity that such person, whom he considered dangerous, could have brought upon us. We decided to deal compassionately with Bennett's demand for help and give it to him. Anthony personally undertook to help Bennett economically, upon the condition that we would no longer suffer intrusions in our life.

I have never agreed strongly with Anthony Bourdain's politics, but as a man I respected him greatly. His suicide caught me by surprise, like it did many others. I was disgusted to see Ms. Argento attempt to take advantage of his death, to further paint herself as a victim; but this takes my disgust to an entirely new level. The efforts she takes to paint Bennett as an intruder and absolve herself of any agency in the matter is quite revealing; she has no respect for the dead, nor the living.

Her statement fails to even remain consistent. If Bennett wanted matters to remain private, why did Bourdain supposedly consider him dangerous? If he was a friend beset by hard times, why did you both consider him an intruder? If there was no truth to his story, what did you have to fear in denying him his financial request?

I doubt we will receive any answers to these questions. Argento has long since proven she has no respect for anyone but herself and will take advantage of anyone, including those dead who loved her dearly, to obtain the attention she seeks.

Heard about this earlier today. This woman is Despicable. Her actions already effected the man in such a way that he took his own life and now you're trying to blame your own woes on them. It's a shame.
