This is heartbreaking. One of the hardest thing to face a parent, I suppose, is to have no control over the health of your child. Experimental procedures can be quite tricky since not much is known about them. It might work for only a subset of people and have unforseen side effects. Unfortunately, only the research groups tasked to investigate the merits of such trials can typically conduct them. Hopefully the group in the US, conducting the research, will find Charlie suitable for their experiments before it's too late. Otherwise, the only thing to hope for is that this trial goes so well that the treatment will be available worldwide within the next couple of years, to save the lifes of others facing the same disease
