WHY is John Kerry involved in the Kenyan elections?

I Just watched John Kerry get interviewed about the Kenyan elections. I have to say I am really puzzled as to why he is involved in the Kenyan elections. He is no longer in the whitehouse he was Obama's Foriegn secretary. Even if he was still involved in US politics why is he there?
The U.S. has no right to interfere watch or examine process!
