World most congested jail

Philippines are currently holding the record of the most congested jail in the world.

A year after Rodrigo Duterte took his office after winning the Presidential election , over millions of drug dealers and users voluntarily surrender , as result jails are now congested.

For example in Quezon City Jail , which can only house over a 800 inmates but 2700 people forced to occupy almost every corner of the prison.

Inmates describe their place "worse than hell" .

Over crowded jail is not the only the problem that country facing also the personnel that handling the inmates are not enough said by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology  (BJMP) chief.

BJMP Chief Serafin Barretto said that country's inmate population might reach 200,000 by the end of 2017, which is 10 times more than what the country's jail facilities can handle.

China pledges funds for new Philippines jail 

China is backed the contoversial drug on war that Rodrigo Duterte campaign by funding to build new jail facilities. BJMP chief said that during Duterte's trip to Beijing in October 2016, China also offered to donate $14 million for detention facilities.
