Welcome To Rio 2016: Olympic Village Catches Fire and Athletes Getting Robbed in Broad Daylight

in news •  8 years ago

The Olympic games are set to get underway in Rio de Janeiro, the host country is experiencing more than one "minor issue" Already reports have are coming out of gas leaks in athletes' rooms (rooms which the Australians have classified "uninhabitable"), athletes being robbed, a collapse of the primary boat ramp intended for use in sailing competitions and trouble with water quality which an AP examination found to be "contaminated with raw human sewage teeming with dangerous viruses and bacteria."

The associated Press commissioned a sixteen-month study at the waterways of Rio which revealed constant and dangerously excessive levels of viruses from pollution and untreated human sewage. In reality, the AP's exams revealed that Copacabana beach, in which the marathon and triathlon swimming are to be held and thousands of travelers are likely to take a dip in, surpassed California's restrict fecal limits by 5x over thirteen-month testing period. Dr. Valerie Harwood, Chair of the branch of Integrative Biology on the college of South Florida, contemplated at the test outcomes:

"That's a very, very, very high percentage. Seeing that level of human pathogenic virus is pretty much unheard of in surface waters in the U.S. You would never, ever see these levels because we treat our waste water. You just would not see this."

Apparently a fire started by an employee in one of the buildings housing the athletes was used as a diversion to rob some members of the Australian delegation:

Don't you just love the Olympic games? Fun for everybody! /s
