Will Gibson Guitars Go BANKRUPT?

in news •  7 years ago

Gibson Guitars recently announced the company is experiencing some financial trouble. And while they've expressed intentions to restructure their outstanding debts, there's no guarantee things will get better.

They have been here before and they have managed to get over the hump... if we look back at their history, the times they've been sold, the mcarthy era...

(guitar nerd) they have been here before.. to me the main problem with gibson, or their biggest hurdle is its consumers. If gibson attempts to change a thing on their models people just hate on them as if they betrayed the gospel, so to me, what is probably going to happen is that gibson is going to go back to the 80's in quality for a while, after being sold to a questionable company and only after the current generation of buyers have moved on, they will come back with the same ridiculous pricing equivalent of that future time...

They are so desperate. Gibson made new guitar, named it "Modern Flying V", and it looks like garbage, overpriced garbage.
Its 4500$ for this:

If the Gibson dies, nobody will give a shit. Cause they made shit with shitty quality. Shit allover the place. And put the price so high, that no one can afford that, guess what, shit. So, lets hope someone buys them.

Just compare this guitar with abomination that is up there, fuck..

that new flying v looks hideous, lol. it looks like a star trek communicator or something.

This picture is among first in google search for "modern flying v", so yeah, you are on point

Definitely falls right in line with the Matt Bellamy post from earlier. Gibson seems to be doing worse than other brands (though all are struggling) due to having less products overall and some internal changes over the last couple years. Plus the Mac Demarco type sound which is quite popular these days lends itself more to Fender guitars than Gibsons. If I were a betting man I'd say that soon there will be even more consolidation in the instrument manufacturing world. Guitar Center and several brands will likely be bought by a larger corporation a la CBS and Fender.

Word up. I jam Fenders personally. They bite hard.

I just watched a YouTube channel that Talks about Various companies. And this company Was talked about today.

Gibsons news Hurts guitarists As much as Toys"R" Us Hurt the children

Ooooooooooo.

It's tough times for guitar companies. It's not the only instrument kids go for and they have lots of other interests. Meanwhile good quality guitars are coming from countries where they can be made much cheaper. Gibson have a great legacy, but they have to find a way to adapt to the current market. I've seen when they introduce new technology a lot of players don't want it. The old designs are good, but many guitarists are resistant to change. I've never owned a Gibson, but it would be sad to see them go.
