More than 20,000 people have left the militant-occupied areas of the Damascus suburb of Eastern Ghouta on Sunday morning, the Russian military said. Live images from the scene show people streaming to safety.
In total, more than 68,000 people have so far left Eastern Ghouta through the humanitarian corridors set up by the Syrian Army and Russia, the Russian Defense Ministry’s Center for Syrian Reconciliation said in a statement.
“The humanitarian corridor in Eastern Ghouta continues to work,” Maj. Gen. Vladimir Zolotukhin, a spokesman for the Reconciliation Center, said.
