Let's be honest here, given Venezuela's track record with economic management, this is undoubtedly a scam. All we are seeing here is a country with too many leaking holes in its economic boat. The boat is taking on so much water (inflation), that the government has essentially just proposed a new boat with smaller holes in it meaning the boat currently has very little water in it. In time the holes will get bigger and the Petro will find itself once more, suffering from serious inflationary issues. We are just trading problems here.
