"The State? What is that? Well then! Now open your ears, for I shall now speak to you of the death of the peoples.
The state is the coldest of all cold monsters. Coldly it lies, too; and this lie creeps from its mouth: "I, the state, am the people."
It is a lie! It was creators who created peoples and hung a faith and a love over them: thus they served life.
It is destroyers who set snares for many and call it the state: the hang a sword and a hundred desires over them.
I call it the state where everyone, good and bad, is a poison drinker: the state where everyone, good and bad loses himself: the state where universal slow suicide is called - life.
Just look at the superfluous people! They steal for themselves the works of inventors and the treasures of the wise: they call their theft culture - and they turn everything to sickness and calamity.
Just look at these superfluous people! They are always ill, they vomit their bile and call it a newspaper. They devour one another, and cannot even digest themselves.
Just look at the superfluous people! They acquire wealth and make themselves poorer with it. They desire power and especially the lever of power, plenty of money - these impotent people!
See them clamber, these nimble apes! They clamber over one another and so scuffle into the mud and the abyss.
They all strive towards the throne: it is a madness they have - as if happiness sat upon throne! Often filth sits upon the throne - and often the throne upon filth, too.
They all seem madmen to me and clambering apes and too vehement.
A free life still remains free for great souls. Truly, he who possesses little is so much the less possessed: praised be a moderate poverty!
Only there were the state ceases, does the man who is not superfluous begin: does the song of the necessary man, the unique and irreplaceable melody, begin
There where the state ceases - look there, my brothers. Do you not see it: the rainbow and the bridges to the superman?
Thus spoke Zarathustra."
I've been reading Friedrich Nietzche's Thus Spoke Zarathustra in my spare time. The above piece is select snippets from the part "of the New Idol". It has been pleasantly reaffirming to read this work.
If you don't know what it is about... the prophet Zarathustra comes down from the mountains to tell people that God is dead, and to teach people about the ubermensch/the superman. I really enjoyed the anti-statism in this part. I firmly believe that "the state" must be destroyed to free man so we can move towards the superman. Within our societies we have many many last men/ultimate men (the antithesis of the superman) who wish to die in comfort. They are tired of life, take no risks, and seek only comfort and security. These last men want to give more and more power to the state, until the state controls all aspects of life. To me this is domestication of the animal homo sapien.
I believe that blockchain is a super bridge to the superman that will allow us to overcome the state amongst many other things. I imagine a "multi-state" system to arise in the future. Through multiple states in one geographical location, it dilutes the power, functioning, and "authority" of the state, and will transform our societies' culture, communities, character, & consciousness: eventually leading to an end of all states - zero state.
Are you a bridge to the Superman? Or are you the last man?
