Lovers of the Game of Thrones series are quite familiar with this phrase.Westeros where summer and winter last for years.
Well we are in the real world, and in this part of it, our winter is the harmattan. So the title ought to have been harmattan is coming, but it did not sound so cool so, #WinterIsComing.
I woke up this morning, the beginning of a new week with enthusiasm, believing classes this week were gonna be splendid. Imagine the shock I literally felt when I stepped out of my room to get some water. There and then, I felt like sleeping and waking when harmattan was gone cos I realized then that #winteriscoming.
Getting to the tap, I fetched some water but on getting to the bathroom, I was on the verge of changing my mind about the whole bathing thing. The water was already cold. I screwed up the courage to pour the first bowl of water over my body and the rest was a race between consecutive bowls to reach the floor first. I think it was a tie.
Fine, I had taken my bath. Going back to my room proved frightening. I'm sure a lot of people have experienced that crazy cold after you've taken your bath. I had to run instead of walk back to my room. I felt it in my bones, #Winteriscoming.
It doesn't end there. I now had to ensure every inch of my body was well oiled if I didn't wanna be looking like a scarecrow by the end of the day. Funny thing is, there are some creams you'll use that harmattan will still dry off you.
Done with that, I faced a dilemna, put on my favorite short-sleeved shirt and risk incurring the fury of the Lord of Winterfell or putting on those drab sweaters that make me look like a crow. Guess which I picked
The crow outfit!
#Winteriscoming
Yet, despite all my fortifications for the day, I still feel dried out, cold and like a White Walker.
All said and done, I'll be glad when classes are over for the day and I can retire to the warmth of my nest, to live out the rest of my day in peace.
And yet it is still mild now. I'm just pitying myself in advance for when I'll be having cracked and parched lips, scaly skin and the countenance of the White Walkers round the clock.
Maybe, only then will you believe what I say now, what the Starks of Winterfell have always said
#Winteriscoming
And for your information, the Starks have always been right.
Thank goodness we don't have to worry about the White Walkers showing up when the cold comes creeping in.
So in conjunction with my new steemit friends, @tellafriend ,we'd like you to #tellafriend that #winteriscoming
