Today is a very historic day in this great country; Nigeria. Exactly this day 58 years ago, the labours of our past heroes were rewarded with the freedom of Nigeria from the shackles imposed on her by some cruel task masters - and this heralded the dawning of a new phase in the history of Nigeria.
No matter what obstacles may come in the way of one man, nothing can withstand the power of millions of voices that are calling for change - Barack Obama
This; in my opinion; is truism, and this can be summed up to what we experienced here. For the love of our resources, the task-masters greeted us with cruelty, and our land was almost devoured. But, out of the shadows, arose men of like minds to put a "no" to their "yes".
Joining forces together with themselves, they took a righteous battle; not a battle of bows and arrows; but a battle of words and unionism, and they grabbed the vampires by the jaw bone, and placed home our demands - "give us our freedom! give us our freedom!!". These past heroes refused to be cracked by the strains and stress from their pressure, and even in the face of obliteration, they feared not the enemies "within" and "without"; but proliferated their voices to the nooks and crannies of the heart of Naija.
Alas, on the 1st of October 1960, a new dawn arose in the heart of Naija; and it led to the beginning of the breath of fresh air. And today, we are bringing to reminiscence the acts of valour of our past heroes, and I know that their memories have been eternally engraved on the history books of this nation - and posterity would definitely smile on their heroism.
As a parting message to all Naija people - there is always peace in togetherness and unity, so we should work for the unity of this great nation. This is our absolute prerogative to do if we want to see more peace.
God bless Nigeria

Haha but let's call it as we see it. Only thing we seem to have is hope. But the hope gets dashed with every passing day
