“A Blight on Our Legacy”

The time has come for me to seek the solace of my bed.
Being in a time and place where this is possible,
Is a blessing which many in the world cannot enjoy.
This is a shame,
A blight on our legacy that future generations will judge
Us in a very negative manner.
There is just
Too much plenty of everything in our world
For everyone to not have safety and warmth and food.
I am NOT saying we need a ‘nanny state’;
We need to be our brothers caretakers.

How can we not CARE enough to
SHARE enough, so that we all
Have peace and security?
Love does NOT allow
People to go
Hungry.

Good Night

This is such a sad reality! One which is out of control here in South Africa!

Those who have, always get more, while those who have not, always seem to get less.
Why does this have to be? I like to believe in the innate goodness of mankind, so what is driving this selfish, anti-altruistic greed?

Materialistic obsession. Humans are becoming shallower and more self-absorbed as time goes on. However, having said that... there are still many good souls.

Yes there are many good ones left.
I think rather than materialism (though that is the outcome of a capitalistic system I think) to me it seems to stem from

  1. fear of the future and not having what we need to survive and
  2. jealousy of those who have more.

One of my favorite quotes is:

"The rich man is not he who has the most, but he who needs the least"

well said! And I think you hit the nail on the head!
