In the University where i study, the University of ilorin, unilorin for short, my faculty has just achieved, how do i put this, a certain level of freedom in terms of the way we dress๐๐๐. The situation before this was that each department in my faculty was assigned a specific colour, my department's was "butter colour", absurd right?, I'll let you decide. The situation recently changed as the "colour bondage" Is over and the only requirement is dressing corporately. I as a student have always thought that this should have been the case from my freshman year, so the faculty adopting it now?, well i don't know what they were thinking. So the argument goes thus; should it be mandated for college students to dress in accordance with their line of work, i mean corporately and all for the management and business student, and others.
I am someone that supports decency in all manners of life, but the designation of a single colour code was what I didn't support, but now that it's been revoked, i fully support the motion of training students to dress like they would in a literal working environment.
Who else supports that there should be a system of dressing, at least for some aspects of study like business, law, etc. I think a business student in a well ironed shirt and tie is likely to later in real work situation feel at ease than one that goes with ripped jeans and top, at least I think this was the thought of the pioneers of the one shirt colour system then.
Of course this is opened to debate and there are people who feel that the dressing to class shouldn't really matter. I would want anyone of the thought to think of the dress code as an added benefit.
So, what do you think? As a student do they do this in your varsity as wel? As a parent, do you support this motion? It's opened to debate. I'll like to hear your thoughts in the comments section.
