Hello STEEMIT community!
We think many of our readers, including you, are very interested in helping others, whether via a for-profit or non-profit organization.
That’s why we want to introduce to you the concept of effective altruism.
Most of us want to make a difference. We see suffering, injustice and death, and are moved to do something about them. But working out what that “something” is, let alone actually doing it, is very difficult. Since making changes is difficult, it’s easy to be disheartened by the challenge.
Effective altruism is a response to this challenge. Effective altruism is a research field which uses high-quality evidence and careful reasoning to work out how to help others as much as possible. It is also a community of people taking these answers seriously, focusing their efforts on the most promising solutions to the world's most pressing problems.
How can we help others in the most effective way? Let us know what you think in the comments!

I wrote a post introducing people a little to effective altruism, and offering a free book to those who want to know more...but so far nobody seems to want free books...what is happening in the world? https://steemit.com/effectivealtruism/@jonshock/free-books-who-would-like-to-find-out-more-about-effective-altruism
