Fruit and vegetable variety in Oslo.

The variety of fruits and vegetables in the ''mainstream'' supermarkets in Norway is unfortunately very limited and can be in addition quite costly. A very good alternative is to visit one of the big ethnic markets (Turkish owned usually.) There can one find a significantly wider variety of fruits, seeds, vegetables, fresh cheese. Prices are about 40%-70% cheaper.

I took some pictures today during my shopping tour. This market is located in the area of Grønland and is called ''Grønland Frukt og Grønn'' conveniently placed just a few meters from the subway station exit (also called Grønland), thus making it very convenient and reachable from all over Oslo.On saturdays or weekdays during the rush hour the market can get quite crowded.A less crowded option is the ethnic shop at the Sagene area called Sagene Torg

Keep in mind that the products in these markets are usually not organic/ecological. There is also a lot of ethnic junk food and candy that is best avoided!Nevertheless, plant products are usually on par or better than the ones found at the local Kiwi, rema1000 etc.

Across the Grønland market lies a butcher shop which has always fresh meat sold by weight. Unfortunately i forgot to take a picture but i definitely recommend it if you are a meat eater.
