Now Playing Week 4 - Nick Cave and the Bad Sees - Red Right Hand

in nowplaying •  7 years ago  (edited)

I'm sure there are loads of people out there who hadn't heard of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds before they saw Peaky Blinders. Hopefully they've gone off to investigate the rest of his back catalogue, as there are some gems to be found in there.

In 1981, I walked into a small record store called Poptones, in Niagara Falls, and heard some wild and amazing music. I asked the owner what it was, and he put "Prayers of Fire" on the counter. Since then, I've heard plenty of great music from NCave.

Here's a great vid I just watched.

Thanks for your post! Great music like this should be heard by more people.

I always remember watching Wim Wender's film Wings of Desire and seeing them (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds) play in the nightclub scene, it intercuts between the normal world and the angel's view.

The scene was later redone (ripped off?) in a U2 video, but I can't work out which song, it may even have been directed by Wim Wenders as I know they worked with him too.

Yes, he's done a few things in his time.

He's written hundreds of songs, led about 4 bands, played with numerous and diverse musicians, covered the music of various diverse artists, performed in films, acted in films, done great spoken word recordings, and even written a few books.

Pretty impressive.

Thanks for entering this week's #nowplaying!
