Art comes in many forms photography, drawing, painting, food, dance, sculpture, tattoos, music, the different types of media to express yourself are endless. These outlets allow us to express ourselves, every creation holds a piece of our identity within it, a feeling, a memory. It’s so important to make time to create, your creations can help you grieve, manifest a new opportunity, process traumatic memories, express your happiness or gratitude.
Art is therapeutic I paint to realese built up emotions and attract new experiences into my life, I cover my vessel in art as a form of therapy, tattoos create symbolic references to pivotal times, emotions or people in my life, and being photographed reveals a beauty in myself that I didn’t think was there, after struggling with obesity through middle and high school I didn’t believe I was or ever could be beautiful.
I am no stranger to shame, sexual shame, body shaming, etc, these photos help me let go of those shames, I am not ashamed of my body, who I am or how I express myself. I am proud of how far I have come, how much I have grown and all that I have and continue to learn. Let’s make more art in the world and heal the suffering through beauty.
