2lets-talk-about-carbs1.jpgFood containing carbohydrates are energy food. Carbohydrates are the main sources of energy in the body. They constitute the most abundant group of biomolecules on earth. They are abundantly found in animal and plant tissues. Their empirical formulae is Cn(H2O)n.

Carbohydrates are produce by a process called photosynthesis which take place in plants.

Functions of carbohydrates:

  • They are the main sources of energy in the body

  • Storage form of energy (starch and glycogen)

  • Excess carbohydrate is converted to fat.

  • Insoluble carbohydrate polymer serves as structural element in the cell walls of bacterial and plant and in the connective tissues and cell coats of animals.

CARBS AND YOU:
Nutrition: Bread, pasta, beans, potatoes ,rice ,and cereals are carbohydrate rich foods. You could get all your energy from fats and proteins . But also, one gram of carbohydrate contains 4 kilocalories(kcal), the same amount as protein. One gram of fat contains around
9kcal.

This is a brief intro of carbs. how do these carbs lead to low level of thinking steemers?
