There is a new development in the Nexus Mutual hacking case.
Popular cryptocurrency project #Nexus #Mutual (NXM) suffered a sharp decline two days ago with the news that the CEO was hacked. The NXM price lost more than 30% with the news that about $ 8 million of tokens were stolen in the hacking incident and still continues to lose.
Message to the Hacked CEO
The attacker, who hacked Nexus Mutual CEO Hugh Karp 's computer and MetaMask wallet, sold some of them after making an 8 million dollar bill. The hacker, who did not accept the $ 300,000 award offered by the CEO, gave an important message to the CEO after cashing about $ 2.5 million in NXM.
Writing a message inside his Ethereum-based transaction, the hacker spoke directly to the CEO and said:
“Hello, Hugh. I will not sell xNXM until I regain the value of NXM or you send me 4,500 ETH Ethereum. If you want to negotiate with me, send a message to my Ethereum address. I'm following your address. You're rich, Hugh. "
4,500 ETH Ransom Requests
The 4,500 ETH currently represents $ 2.6 million, and it is unknown whether the CEO has such a fund. The CEO, on the other hand, immediately responded to the message and stated that the wallet address starting with 0xFC6 belongs to the Nexus Foundation, not to him. In other words, the address of the wallet that the hacker followed and said to be ETH belongs to the Nexus management, not the CEO.
#Hugh #Karp actually responded negatively to the hacker, stating that he doesn't have that much ETH. But if the CEO pays $ 2.5 million in ETH to get the remaining funds of around $ 5.5 million, it would be favorable for both him and the NXM price. The fear that a hacker with $ 5.5 million NXM in his hand could sell and lower the price at any time can certainly make investors nervous.
Will NXM Price Continue To Fall?
It seems unlikely that the NXM price will recover until these events are over, the ransom is paid, or the hacker is arrested. Nexus Mutual price continues to decline. The project, which was attacked while being traded for $ 22, then declined to $ 16.
NXM, which has increased by 8% in the last 24 hours as of the time this article was written, can continue its sharp decline with a negative response to the hacker. The CEO announced that he was contacting the hacker.
