On October 14, 2011, on a drone strike conducted on Obama's orders, 16, year old Abdulrahman Anwar al-Awlaki was killed in Yemen.
al-Awlaki's father was alleged to be an operational leader in al-Qaeda, and had been killed by the U.S. two weeks prior. He also was an American citizen, killed extra-judicially by Obama.
Some U.S. officials said another al-Qaeda leader was the target of the attack that killed al-Awlaki, who was never charged with or even accused of any crime.
The U.S. was not at war with Yemen, so should not have been using drones there.
A White House Spokesperson said al-Awlaki should have had a better father. Obama never commented or expressed any regret for killing an innocent child who was a citizen of the country Obama governed. But he did later joke about using drones against the singers the Jonas Brothers if they tried to date his daughters.
So, you get it, the killing of Abdulrahman Anwar al-Awlaki was just a hilarious joke. Funny stuff when you're the chief executive of the world's most powerful country.
