Obama is getting a lot of flak for pointing out the objectively true fact that "Defund the Police" is a wildly unpopular slogan. Regardless of how you may personally feel about it, polls and surveys have conclusively shown that the vast majority of people are deeply opposed to the idea.
And yes, I get that "Defund the Police" doesn't literally mean "let's completely abolish all municipal law enforcement agencies" (except for anarchists and other radical leftists, who really do mean it that way), but most people don't get that it actually means something more nuanced. They just assume that it means what it sounds like.
I'm getting pretty tired of this whole trend where activists try to make their policies sound more extreme than they really are. It's a surefire way to shoot yourself in the foot and undermine your own cause, yet they keep doing it.
