The danger of disobeying God
(Nm. 22: 1-35)

Context of the passage: The Israelites encamped in Moab, on the other side of the Jordan, in front of Jericho. Balak, the king of Moab, was afraid, because he had heard of the triumphs of the people before the Amorite kings (Sihon, king of Heshbon, Og, king of Bashan.) Therefore, Balak sent for Balaam to curse the people of Israel, to then attack them and drive them out. Nm. 22: 1-7.

Introduction: one of the things that God asks of the believer is obedience. Let's see some texts that talk about it.

  • There will always be someone who invites you to disobey. Nm. 22: 3-7
  • This invitation will show you an attraction. Nm. 22: 7
  • God's question for you to react. Nm. 22: 9-11
  • God tells the prophet that he should not go, nor curse the people. Nm. 22: 12-14.
  • A new invitation to disobey. Nm. 22: 15-19.
  • God allows the prophet to go. Nm. 22: 20-21.
  • God does not like disobedience. Nm. 22:22.
  • Disobedience is exposed to punishment. Nm. 22: 23-34.
  • God now sends the prophet with the condition of saying what he is commanded. Nm. 22:35.

Conclusions:

  • Do not ask God, if you already know the answer.
  • Do not let the wicked put you against your brother.
  • God gives you the commandment, but does not force you to fulfill it.
  • Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 2 Corinthians 11:14
  • Begin to fulfill the will of God that has been declared to you.
  • Ask God to show you his will in things you do not understand.
    God bless you.
