The central government has clarified in the Supreme Court that those who have old 500-1000 notes and filed a petition in this court, they will not be prosecuted. Actually, 14 people have filed a petition in the Supreme Court and demanded another chance to deposit old notes. They say that they have not been able to deposit their old notes for a few important reasons till the time. The court has asked the petitioners to file their application in the Constitution Bench, who is already hearing the matter of challenging the decision of the ban on filing of the decision.
On December 16, the matter was sent to the Constitution Bench
Chief Justice Deepak Mishra and Justice MM Khanvilkar and Justice DY Chandrachud's bench were hearing in this case.
The court said that the constitutional validity of the ban on bondage is pending with the Constitution Bench. Therefore, those benches will also consider the pitches of those who can not deposit the old notes stalled by the scheduled date in the RBI. The court said that all the petitioners should withdraw their cases and file an application against the Constitution Bench.
Let the Supreme Court send the case of Challenging Constitutional Validity to the ban on dispatch of the five judges on December 16 to the Constitution Bench.
Not against the decision, we just have to submit our notes
Some pitchers said in the Supreme Court that they do not want to challenge the ban on bondage or provisions of the RBI Act, but rather just want to submit their old notes.
A petitioner, through his advocate Pranava Sachdeva, said, "Our hard work earned us the right opportunity and without any legal process has been seized."
What did the center say?
The Center said that the Government will not take any criminal action to keep old notes against 14 pititioners who have demanded to deposit old notes.
Let the Union government announce the ban on November 8 last year. Under this 500-1000 notes were made out of currency. The government had given time till December 31 to collect them. Even later, those who had had these notes could have deposited them in the RBI till March 31.
