At a time when the "Indies" are blossoming with crowfunding and flooding us with more or less disappointing early access (sometimes showing signs of an uncertain or botched release at best) some developers are nevertheless acting as first in the class because they excel in the various fields that are: the progress of the game, the regular monitoring of the game as well as communication with the emerging / growing community.
Good pick with RimWorld and its little studio called Ludeon who has concocted a perfect little game of survival / adventure / RPG which, despite its minimalist graphics (although more than honourable when we are somewhat allergic to the pixel design very trendy at the moment) will quickly make you addicted.
But enough talk, let's get down to it, you have three settlers who have just barely escaped the crash of their ship and who will have to survive on a more or less hostile planet depending on the biome chosen (different climates, variable topography) and the level of difficulty determined in advance.
It is up to you to collect resources in order to meet the needs of your protégés for one day to be able, through technological research, to build a new ship and leave this planet.
In the meantime, you will be attacked by pirates eager for destruction who will not hesitate to abandon their wounded cowardly. You can capture them and do what you want with them, whether it's getting them back on their feet to recruit them or simply removing some of their organs to transplant your wounded settlers, you'll be spoilt for choice.
Because one of the advantages of this game is the management of injuries. Your settlers will suffer from various ailments ranging from simple sunstroke to infection of certain limbs / organs of their body. You will therefore need medication for operations such as liver transplants or arm amputations.
Your settlers will therefore be directly affected by various maluses that can be corrected by using very expensive but very life-saving bionic prostheses.
In the meantime, we will have to make do with the means at our disposal and install a poor wooden leg.
But pirates will not be your only enemies, from primitive tribes to devastating mechanoids, from capricious weather to eclipses depriving you of the energy of your solar panels, everything is for a maximum of challenge.
Build your defenses, face the many dangers, equip yourself with the consequences, take advantage of the many craft opportunities and lead your colony to the construction of a spaceship to finally put an end to your adventure.
The game, for an alpha, is already very complete, in addition to having a very active and creative community in terms of mods. Greenlighté on steam, its popularity continues to grow.
Very rich, very varied and always full of promise, I have rarely had so much fun on an independent game since FTL, Dev Games Tycoon or Bannished which are however much less complete.
It is up to you to take the plunge
