Hi friends, here are photos of my experiment with regrowing onion bottoms. They did grow back and I used the leaf blades for cooking or you can add to salads and soups. I separated the plants , as you can see in the pictures, there are multiple plants emerging from one onion scrap. They eventually grew onions, but were small, about the size of a kiwi fruit. This is because they had already produced full grown onions before. The second season or second year onions generally stay small as the plant focus more on seed production.
It was a fun experiment and neat to see them grow back. This would make a fun project to do with kids! Thanks for stopping by and happy steeming!

My mother does this also. She loves taking the scraps of veggies and growing new veggies from them. :)

I do the same with other veggies! So fun and interesting!

I tried that this year but i think the SFG box i made for my kids was to shallow for where it was.
