note: This piece is written by Leah Stephens, AKA @stellabelle, Head of International Operations at ONO and founder of @slothicorn. It is a reflection of her personal opinion regarding Ke Xu.
When I heard that Ke Xu had recently won a Poker Championship in China, with the prize being $USD 1 million, I had probably the same reaction as many people: awe. But the most surprising thing to learn is not that Ke Xu is a Poker champion but what she thinks about it, now that she has won the championship. In this video, which was taken as part of a team meeting, you will see that Ke Xu values knowledge over everything else. She describes how for 6 years she was asked to play poker in the VIP rooms, and now that she has won the championship, she discusses that she has learned her lessons from playing poker, but has no intention of continuing it. For her, she's already mastered it, so there's no reason to keep playing it.
She talks about the importance of staying curious and doing something, studying something in-depth until one has achieved mastery over it. She understands that there is no need to continue doing something that one has already mastered. It is in this way, I think Ke Xu values knowledge over all other things.
Here's the video you can see for yourself what Ke thinks about her recent poker championship win, among other things:
One of the major things that drew me into working with the ONO team was the radical transparency of Ke. During this team meeting, she didn't care that we wanted to film it. I like this quality in a leader, and if transparency wasn't a part of ONO, I would not be involved.
Thanks for your continued support,
Leah

Very talented and down-to-earth person. Playing poker requires skill, but it also requires patience and ability to read players. Knowing your opponent is half the battle.
