Mystery Figures 17 and 1000 (In the Nuzulul Quran Framework)

Each entering the month of Ramadan, we are always associated with the numbers 17 and 1000. Both numbers are always mentioned by preachers in the pulpit. Indeed the existence of that number is a mystery to us. In fact, many people often call that number. But, do not understand exactly where the numbers come from. Therefore, the author will try to reveal the mystery behind the two numbers full of mystery. Certainly full of mystery is not frightening, dangerous, and terrible. But, the numbers are amazing and happy people who fast.
In the study of Ulumul Quran, that there are several phases of Allah SWT decreases the Qur'an (nuzulul quran). The first phase, the decline of the Qur'an from Allah SWT to Lauhul Mahfudz (Al-Buruj: 21-22). That is a place that is awake and free from the intervention of creatures. The existence of the Qur'an in Lauhul Mahfudz, according to Ibn Kathir, shows the glory of the Qur'an, is in a high place, and preserved from addition, subtraction, counterfeiting, and change.
In addition, in this phase the Qur'an is revealed simultaneously. According to Az-Zarqani, that the Qur'anic belief is revealed simultaneously in this phase, since first, there is no text of the verse itself indicating that the Qur'an is gradually lowered, and secondly, no Qur'anic interest is gradually reduced in this phase (Yunahar Ilyas, 2014: 35 ). As for when and how the process of decreasing the Qur'an in this phase there is no hint of the Qur'an or hadith. That is, this unseen thing that must be believed by Muslims.
Number 1000
In addition, the second phase, the Qur'an is derived from Lauhul Mahfudz to Baitul Izzah (the heaven of the world). According to Az-Zarqani and Ibn Abbas, that the Qur'an was revealed in this phase occurred on the night of Qadar (Lailatul Qadar) (Qs Ad-Dukhan: 3, Al-Qadar: 1, and Al-Baqarah) simultaneously. Therefore, Lailatul Qadar is a blessed night and its existence is better than 1000 months (Surah Al-Qadar: 3). From here comes the mystery number 1000. In fact, the existence of 1000th night of this month is very awaited by Muslims who perform fasting in Ramadan.
In many hints, that tonight is on the final 10 of the odd-odd night (between 21,23,25,27,29) of the month of Ramadan. Believed Muslims that someone who can worship on that night, then worship like a has done worship 1000 months. So Muslims are not wasting tonight's existence. Of course, tonight is only obtained by people who are serious in performing the fast. While the neglectful people will pass the 1000th night of this month with full of futility.
Furthermore, if we are more critical, then the question arises why the number used 1000, not 2000, or 3000, and so on? While in the third phase, the decline of the Qur'an from Baitul Izzah to the Prophet Muhammad Saw through the angel Gabriel. In this phase the Qur'an is gradually decreased (gradually). According to Manna Al-Qattan, the decline of the Qur'an in this phase takes 23 years (Manna Khalil Al-Qattan, 2010: 151). The process of decline was in addition because of Allah's will without cause (asbabun nuzul), also for certain reasons. For example, there is the issue of the ummah or the question of the Ummah, then the Qur'an (both perayat, group verses, and the correspondence as well) is revealed as an answer.
According to Ulumul Quran scholars, much of the Qur'anic wisdom is lowered gradually in this phase. First, to strengthen or confirm the heart of the Messenger of Allah (Qs Al-Kahf: 6). Because, when the Qur'an is lowered gradually, then the Prophet will be more intense meet with Gabriel. Secondly, as a challenge and a miracle (Qs Al-Furqan: 33). Because, when a number of questions are addressed to the Prophet Muhammad as an apostle, it is necessary to show to the people that the miracles and their miracles in answering the whole matter.
Third, facilitate rote and understanding (Qs Al Jumu'ah: 2). Therefore, the Qur'an is revealed to the apostles and ummi people, ie can not read and write. For them it will be difficult to memorize and understand if the Qur'an is passed down at once. So that with the Qur'an is revealed gradually will make it easier for Muslims to memorize, record, and understand it. Fourth, ease the process of da'wah. Because, changing the behavior and bad habits of humans takes time. So that there is a paragraph which is gradually revealed in the determination of the law (tadarruj fi tasyri '), such as phasing in the prohibition of khamar.
In many hints, that verse from the Qur'an which was first revealed in this third phase is Al-'Alaq: 1-5. According to Manna Al-Qattan in his book Mabahis Fi Ulumil Quran, that the decline of the verse has no cause down (asbabun nuzul). This verse is revealed on the basis of Allah's will to provide a guide for life for mankind. The reading command (iqra ') in this verse is highly correlated with the condition of illiterate Muslims (ummi) at that time. So this verse teaches the people the importance of literacy, as a medium for gaining knowledge.
Number 17
According to experts Ulumul Quran, that Al-Alaq: 1-5 was revealed on 17 Ramadan (Yunahar Ilyas, 2010: 39). Explicitly (explicitly) there is no indication that the Qur'an was revealed on 17 Ramadan. The conclusion, however, is based on the implicit statement in Al-Anfal: 41: "Know what you can get as booty, then a fifth for Allah, the Apostle, the Apostle's relatives, orphans, The poor and the destitute, if ye believe in Allah and on what we send down to Our servant (Muhammad) on the Day of Furqaan, on the day of the meeting of two armies. And Allah Almighty over all things ".
The scholars of the commentary, such as Ibn Kathir, explain the meaning of the furqan day in the above verse as the day of the meeting of the two forces at the Battle of Badr. That is a heroic war and thrilling in the history of the war of Muslims at that time. For, history records that the quantity of war troops of the polytheists is three times more than the war troops of the Muslims. And, the historic day is believed to occur on Friday 17th Ramadhan second year Hijri. From there the mystery of number 17 appeared and was crowned as the first descending day of the Qur'an from Baitul Izzah to the Prophet Muhammad SAW.
Therefore, it is fitting for Muslims to review and study the content of the Qur'an in this month of Ramadan. Because, the month of Ramadan is the first month of the Qur'an revealed by Allah SWT, either from Lauhul Mahfudz to Baitul Izzah on the night 1000 months, as well as from Baitul Izzah to Prophet Muhammad Saw on 17 Ramadan.
