The Little Voice #day3

Ah, Saturday morning...

It's nice to be able to sit at my computer and know that I have a little more time to let the words flow...

Scratch that!

I forgot, I'm still a mum.

No sooner had I begun to type than my youngest brought it to my attention that we were out of milk. Oh, well, so much for a little me time, losing myself in my writing.

If you'll just excuse me, I need to fly into action - get washed and dressed - and dash off to the local shop for some milk.

Ah, that's better. I'm back and I have a piping hot cup of coffee to boot.

Now, where were we? Oh, yes... Saturday mornings.

I don't have to spend my hours working for somebody else.

"Muuuuuum! where's my cream jumper?"

Again, apologies. I'll be right back...

Phew! Found it. It was neatly folded in her wardrobe. Who knew?! I also just threw a new load of washing in the machine. Need to keep on top of these things or suddenly everyone in the house is wailing that tag I've been given, "Muuuuuum!"

For the American readers amongst you that's the English for Mom.

Darn it! Now my coffee's gone cold. Would you mind awfully if I just quickly popped off and nuked it?

Okay, then, here we are again, happy as can be, all good friends and jolly good company. I wonder if like me you had a tune going on in your head.

If not, here let me help with that...

Wasn't that adorable?

I do love it when I get the opportunity to sit at my computer and just allow myself to take the breaks off (pun very much intended). I've found that I can end up anywhere. That song for example. It isn't one I've thought of in an age and then suddenly there it pops - out of my head and onto the screen as words.

With the computer I can go one better and extend my thoughts and words into moving images and little girls begin to sing.

I wonder how old the two little girls are now, if they are in fact still with us. Wouldn't it be great to find a follow-up video with them as adults and have them sing again?

But no, I digress... that rabbit hole might just prove to be a little too deep. Even for me.

"Ping"

Message has just landed from Daughter Number 1. She'll be needing a lift from the train station later so no doubt that's her letting me know what time I'll be needed.

She slept in. It will be the later train in that case. I have a little more time to play. Yippee!

Suddenly, I'm feeling a little guilty. Surely, I must have forgotten something that I'm supposed to be doing. This extended time allowance that's just been given to me feels unnatural.

Let me see...

  • dark wash is on
  • the house is in good shape and was hoovered, dusted and all that jazz yesterday
  • the little one (11 years old - not so little anymore) has been fed and in a minute I'll kick her butt into gear so she get's washed and dressed
  • the older one will be picked up around 3 this afternoon
  • the grocery shop is scheduled to coincide with the eldest daughter's pick up

Oh my! I have time.

Now, sorry, you really will have to excuse me - again.

I've got an impromptu date with Grace and Frankie. They're hanging out on Netflix and I know they can't wait to see me. Okay, then...

I can't wait to see them.

It's the small things that bring us the greatest joys.

I'm now off to make another cup of coffee and then I'm going to kick off my shoes and indulge in some MeTV.

Bye for now x

It was a blast.

I did indeed, and it was great to just unwind for a little bit. I guess I'm like everyone though, life gets crazy and then it calms and so on. Ebb and flow of life, really.

Yes, I'm from London originally. Now living in West of Ireland so a very different lifestyle. And a beautiful one.
