Ladybugs in Osborne Village, Winnipeg (Manitoba, Canada)

in osborne •  8 years ago  (edited)

I've seen them late October when it was pretty cold.
Photos were taken with LG G5

Didn't figure out how to rotate the image. I tried lots of time to edit it on my PC bu with no luck.
Can somebody advise on that in comments?

That's a nice group of ladybugs. I think that some of them are the dreaded Harmonia axyridis. That ladybug is one of the most invasive insects in the world. It has caused a decline in native ladybug populations everywhere it has been introduced. They have a lot of different forms, but the “M” or “W” behind their head is distinctive.

In North America, the Lost Ladybug Project (http://www.lostladybug.org) asks people to report their ladybugs, to help document how the little beetles are faring. Kids are especially good at helping out, because they are close to the ground and love ladybugs. But Steetmit photographers might be good ladybug reporters, too! : )
