I'm actually with Roger freakin' Deakins that The Batman was the best cinematography this year, and it got snubbed.
Still, I'm not sure that he's right that it's about snobbishness. I mean, The Dark Knight was nominated for cinematography.
One may make the argument that the innovation of the use of Imax cameras gave The Dark Knight a push; but, the Academy is willing to nominate super hero movies for technical awards.
Yes, of course, The Batman deserved the nomination over the likes of Elvis (this isn't me putting Mandy Walker down so much as me dissing Baz Luhrmann).
