I finally sent the gifts to my parents by courier. Needless to say, they were not very impressed with them. 😅As I expected.
But anyway. That's not the topic of this post. But the fact that every day I am amazed by the illiteracy of the people in my country.
The woman who accepted my parcel had to write additional information in the form, instructions on how to find the recipient's address more easily. I saw what she wrote only when I paid and went out - all in all 7 words with 2 big spelling mistakes, one of which is very rough, written only in capital letters and without punctuation, so the meaning of everything was lost.
Thus written, these 7 words no longer make any sense. They are read and understood rather as encrypted code, a secret message that perhaps only the courier will be able to understand. But hardly. This woman was just illiterate.
Every day I see people of my nationality on the Internet who are at the same level of literacy. Every day I see more and more such people, even on the blockchain platforms - those whose texts written in their native language are difficult to read, let alone understand. People who can't spell a single word correctly in their native language, but using Google Translate, write in English. Because sometimes the translator manages to grasp the meaning of the sentences and with some imagination translates them correctly.
I don't know about you, but I don't like this situation. And I'm scared to say the least.
Some time ago, and even now, people used FB as kind of a dating site, and I received now and then personal messages written terribly illiterately. I think this is one of the main things that can repel or attract me to a person.
And here we are not talking about proficiency in a foreign language.
I write my posts in English, because here the mistakes are somehow not so noticeable. 😄 I'm afraid to write in German, because that way they will be noticed much more.
But I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about mastering your own language.
There was a funny meme about the 7.5 millions illiterate people in Germany I saw recently on FB and I really laughed at it a lot (I can't tell or show it to you because it's pretty obscene).
But as funny as it is, it's really sad. Or at least I feel very sad about my own country.

Soul's Detour is a project started by me years ago when I had a blog about historical and not so popular tourist destinations in Eastern Belgium, West Germany and Luxembourg. Nowadays, this blog no longer exists, but I'm still here - passionate about architecture, art and mysteries and eager to share my discoveries and point of view with you. |
Personally, I am a sensitive soul with a strong sense of justice.
Traveling and photography are my greatest passions.
Sounds trivial to you?
No, it's not trivial. Because I still love to travel to small and not so famous destinations.🗺️
Of course, the current situation does not allow me to do this, but I still find a way to satisfy my hunger for knowledge, new places, beauty and art.
Sometimes you can find the most amazing things even in the backyard of your house.😊🧐🧭|
You should get out of your zone of comfort and write in German! :)

So sharpen your written German and start using it! :P

What you are talking about is not possible 🙂 Anyway, mastering foreign languages wasn't this post's topic.
As for changing myself, right now I doubt that would help in any way.
