The Peter and Paul Fortress on the banks of the beautiful Neva River The Peter and Paul Fortress, located in the centre of the city on the banks of the Neva River, is an ancient landmark of St Petersburg. The fortress was laid on Rabbit Island by Peter the Great in 1703 and has been standing for over three centuries, the same age as St Petersburg. The fortress has buildings such as Peter and Paul Cathedral, the bell tower, St Peter's Gate, Peter the Great's boathouse, the mint, the arsenal, the Kronvelk gun emplacement and the monument to the December Revolutionaries. The most famous of these buildings is the Peter and Paul Cathedral, with its spire of the bell tower, which is a symbol of Russian rule on the banks of the Neva and on the Baltic Sea.

Peter and Paul Fortress The foundation stone was laid on 16 May 1703 on Rabbit Island by Peter the Great, the same age as Peter's Castle.

The Naryshkin Prism was built with a signal tower and flags, and the cannon on the tower fired at 12 noon every day to tell the inhabitants the time.

In 1991 a bronze statue of Peter I was erected in the fortress. It was given to the city of St Peter's by the Russian artist Shemyakin

It is said that touching Peter's right hand will bring health and touching his left hand will bring wealth, so we took advantage of this.
