Libation

The sun rises, as do I
I see the skies turn pink and violet
And in my hand a cup of wine

I pour a tad onto the ground and say a prayer
To you, O Hestia, who kept me safe throughout the night
Who offers the shelter of home
And the sure joy of family around your sacred fires

I pour a tad and a prayer whisper
To you, O Eos, opener of gates
To you, O Helios, giver of warmth from afar
To you, O Selene, yet to set in the West

I pour a tad and sing your praises
O glorious Athena, strong and wise
O heavenly Apollo, giver of reason
O beauteous Aphrodite, for loves many gifts

I pour a tad and a prayer I chant
To you, O Artemis, hunter of beasts
To you, O Demeter, nourishing the corn
To you, O Hermes, bringer of blessings

I pour some more and rejoice in the offering
O Hephaestos of the white hot forge
O Ares of the golden sword
O Poseidon of the many ships

I pour some more into the earth
O Dionysus of the wine giving vine
O Hera of the stormy temper
O Zeus, King of Gods and Men

I pour the last and sing my thanks
To you, O Hekate, who has guided me here
To you, O Hestia, once again
For all things begin and end with you, O blessed and sweet goddess
