So many selfies...who am I?

Here's an instance of my own painted selfie from 2008-- I was seeking a way to find art in even the most technologically saturated and bleak of seeming circumstance, and now I have seen this post ( it took me a few days actually to photograph this older painting I have and get it online ) I feel like a part of my artist self was in good company even though it felt so withered and dry of authentic inspiration...it continued on, only to discover that others also went to such measures to authenticate the lived technological self despite and because of a selfie aware culture... Thank you for your awesome post and a reason to stop feeling like this art of mine was too self absorbed to do the broader community any good. I agree with what you said, "why do artists paint themselves? Because they are handy and close by..." :)
