STUDIO UPDATE 4

in painting •  7 years ago  (edited)

I worked on this painting Saturday after I visited the The Joseph Regenstein Library  and became very inspired...

One of the top five libraries on the planet earth.

University of Chicago campus is beautiful too.

my girlfriend is an alumni there, her names Echo:

She urged me to save a bee that we simutaniously spotted trying to fly off of the top of the pond water, probably confused by all the EMF in the airwaves... :)

The The Joe and Rika Mansueto Library library looks like a space ship. I didnt get a picture inside the space. No bookshelves though, all books are under the floor and a robot commanded by a librarian at the desk fetches the books...

The old library where i got to see all the books was the inspiring one. Ill have a lot of quotes from art books i found there to accompany my work

"The dimension that counts for the
creative person is the Space he creates
within himself. This innerspace is closer
to the infinite than the other, and it is the
privilege of a balanced mind . . . to be as
aware of inner space as he is of outer
space. If he ventures in one, and
neglects the other, man falls off his
horse and the equilibrium is broken."

Wow, that library looks awesome. UoC looks very spacious and you're lucky to visit there. On the other hand, does your paining convey the emotions you felt at the library?

a sense of wonder, being the only one in the library during the summer like this... art books get my juices flowing just like making art does, sometimes. . . so i guess, yeah, similar emotions. no contrived relation between the two though :). thanks for asking

you're welcome. :)
