It's that time of the year again, the time when all followers of Allah unite as one to stop themselves from all cravings; material and non-material; and pray to Him for his mercy and forgiveness and praise. The 9th month of the Islamic calendar, Ramadan, observed by Muslims all over the world, holds great significance as per Islamic dogmas.
Allah says in the Qur’an “Remember Allah abundantly, in order that you become successful” [8:45]This month is a time when endless blessings are showered upon the believers with Allah's disposal and these days have been divided into three parts, each focusing on specific blessings for the ones who seek them.
The first Ashra is the Ashra of Mercy of Allah, the second is the Ashra of Forgiveness of Allah, and the third is the Ashra of Safety from Hell. Allah is the only merciful who gifts his followers with more than they could ever fathom. These Ashras have distinct Duas to be practiced and to recite. These are,
1. First Ashra: Ashra of Mercy of Allah
The first ten days of the month constitute the first Ashra, its dua respectfully translates to:
O! My Lord forgive and have Mercy and You are the Best of MercifulThe objective of first Ashra is practicing being merciful to your fellow beings by
- Giving charity, the act Allah loves the most.
- Treat fellow Muslims well by controlling your temper.
- Help people whenever wherever and never say no to them, as Allah helps those who help others.
2. Second Ashra: Ashra of Forgiveness of Allah
Allah is the most forgiving, and these days of Maghfirah are when Allah's forgiveness is at its peak, no doubt He is the utmost forgiving but during these days He grants all who seek forgiveness and are true in their beliefs. It is the time to practice Astaghfar as much as possible.I seek forgiveness from Allah, my Lord, from every sin I committedThese are the days of Maghfirah and He forgives only those who prostrate in front of Him with ashamed spirit and pledge in heart not to do the same again ever. Practice Tauba as Allah loves those who repent on their sins, verily He is the only forgiver.
3. Third Ashra: Ashra of Safety from Hell
The last Ashra comprises the vital days of Ramadan as it unveils those days that are termed as “mother of all days: Lailat-tul-Qadar” whose reward is the highest among rest of the days. Though the entire month is a blessing, yet Allah has provided Muslims with a night the last Ashra, Night of Decree, which is greater in virtue and is better than the nights of thousand months.Muslim, alongside zikar and recitation of Quran, observe Itakaf, and observe special Nawafils, Salatuh Tasbeeh in third Ashra for beseeching sanctuary from hell.
O Allah! Save me from the Hell – Fire.May Allah grant us all the will and opportunity to seek His mercy, forgiveness and pay Him the praise and commend He truly is justified.
