I found out about Steemit therefore about Steem too by...accident. I think I've mentioned the story in a random comment somewhere but what the heck...it's a good introduction anyways. Just like most of you the only thing I knew before Steem and I came close, was...BTC. Yeah...that was my relationship with crypto before I turn into a crypto maniac some 20 months ago.
It was a random comment on a shitty economic article whose author was more or less trying to explain to the rest of the commentators that they could do they very same thing that they have been doing on FB for the past years and getting payed for that. Steemit was magic word and was urging everyone to do their research. So I did a little bit of digging and after almost a full month of patience...my account was finally...activated....I had nothing to lose after all...only to earn, right?
Yeah I know....but that's how Steem/Steemit was promoted at the time...
The whole idea of decentralization, and detachment from middle men, banks and governments was fascinating whether you live in Greece like I do or in Canada or in Antarctica.
And the fact that you could earn crypto via blogging was what triggered me most I guess. I joined when everything was at its peak....and it was an illusion...Probably the worst timing for a newcomer both in Steem and in the Crypto world. Thousands of dollars left and right and my post payouts were literally close to zero.
But I did my research once again...and I DID realize that no matter how people used to promote Steem newcomers will always struggle. Period. And they should...It's like asking to get payed like Messi, when the reality is that...you just learned how to kick the ball...
Steem requires time...commitment...strong will...tons of patience...often investment...socialization...People tend to forget that unless they show up and vote and comment on others' posts they will probably remain unnoticed. They focus on their own blog, which is fine but if you don't possess all the above ingredients and hope that sooner or later you will be noticed by a fat wallet or a curation project...you are highly mistaken, at least in most cases, just to be fair.
It doesn't matter what you think...
...your post worth or that with the effort you put into that you should be rewarded with hundreds of dollars. It is what others think about your post. Got it? You expose yourself here every single day, you show everyone that you're trying. Right. Yet people still don't reward you as you expected? And now what? You run away and never look back? Then go ahead my friend...we need different type of people being around. Different mentality. It's the #Newsteem after all.
A reminder though...
If you decided to abandon the ship now, you obviously chose the worst timing. It's far more easy to be noticed now. NOW, where people driven by their stupid emotions tend to do nothing about their fate...when things go wrong. So you choose the same path...Feeling good? NO? Do you have second thoughts maybe and should try harder and harder. GOOD. Now back to work and show us what you love doing most. Simple as that.
Remember about those big stakeholders I was talking about in yesterday's post? Christmas are here earlier for those who are persistent. They need you to produce something good. They need to vote and spend their VP. They want to consume...Are you ready?
Maybe you need something to feel relaxed. There...enjoy the shot I took a couple of hours ago. Super distressful.
I know that not everyone is sharing the same mindset and you definitely can't criticize others just for the fun of it. I just hope that few of you that are reading these lines feel motivated again.
I definitely came here for the easy money...I was stupid and misinformed. But I stayed for everything else...
Enjoy your ride...make friends...make sure you have tons of fun...educate yourself around everything crypto related...and keep reminding yourself that this is the perfect place to make all the above happen.
Steem ain't gonna make you millionaire overnight if that's what you are seeking. But it can change your life for the better.
Cheers!
👍

I'm a newcomer. I've seen prices drop from $0.4 to $0.2 haha!
Those have been my numbers, but I like it here. Surprise me every day with the things you can find.
Almost everyone comes in with the same information, "the social network that pays to publish". That is to say in search of easy money as you say.
I confess that I'm not really financially solvent, but I'll still be here because I like it.

I found Steem because of the book “Life After Google” by George Gilder. It was one of the examples he used for what Web 3.0 built on a blockchain might look like. I wanted to not just read about it, but to experience it for myself. I’m still here and plan to stay for the duration. Getting paid to contribute is just a bonus ;)
