7 jars of jam

Only 2.5 weeks are left until @laputis and my trip to Svendborg, Denmark where we will perform all Lithuanian organ duet recital. This week we have been hard at work on the organ bench at home to make our playing as smooth as possible.

The main problem for me continues to be the left hand part in the fast episode of the Sonata Ad Patres by Bronius Kutavicius (who was our composition teacher at Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater) and for @laputis - also the left hand part in one page of Lithuanian folk song arrangement by Kristina Vasiliauskaite, a well-known composer of sacred music and music for children.

Last weekend we also went to Klaipeda, Vidas' home city on the Baltic sea. We were supposed to meet our friend American organ builder Gene Bedient and his wife Gwen (currently living in Brussels) who were coming on the Baltic Sea cruise. However, the ship couldn't dock because of the rough weather and they went directly to Riga, Latvia. We only spoke briefly on the phone... Maybe next year we will visit them in Brussels.

All 3 winners of Secrets of Organ Playing Contest Week 27 had done a great job of submitting their videos - @partitura recorded his own organ prelude "Jesu, der du meine Seele", @sapolasa - Grand Choer by Theodor Dubois and @contrabourdon - Tuba Tune by Brett McKern. We hope they'll enjoy the prizes.

Vidas was asked to play during a Mass last Sunday and at the end of it demonstrated the organ to a couple of kids and their parents. Yesterday Ausra picked up black currant in our garden and made it into 7 jars of delicious jam for winter (see photo above).

What do you like more - eating or making jam?

Play the left hand part with your right, Vidas 😉

And sing the right hand part, haha!

2 weeks, there is still time to prepare well. We now have the same currant slough and I have already collected 6 buckets with a volume of 5 liters. For me this is a lot and I sold it :)

30 liters would be enough for 5 years...

Have a great time in Denmark :)

I don't like eating jam at all so I think I'll go for making it. To me, eating jam has a flavour of that drink 'sherry' that older people sometimes like.

Thank you! Fair enough... Jam might be too sweet.
