This should be a much bigger deal in the news cycle honestly. Our vaccination rates among pregnant women are awful relative to the rest of adults. Particularly among black pregnant women.
74% of US adults are fully vaccinated. Only 42% of pregnant women. Only 26% of Black pregnant women.
Pregnant women are high risk for severe COVID. Coronavirus infection is more likely to cause preterm birth and other complications. Vaccination significantly reduces the risk of complications. And vaccines are safe for the pregnancy.
A lot of unfounded fears and misinformation around pregnancy and fertility with the coronavirus vaccines. It is truly awful. This misinformation harms both women and their newborns.
