Type Of Paranasal Sinuses In The Cavity Around The Nose

in paranasal •  10 months ago
Please note, in our nasal cavity there are four sinuses, namely the ethmoidal sinuses which are located in both eyes, the maxillary sinuses which are located on the cheeks, the frontal sinuses which are located on the forehead and the sphenoidal sinuses which are behind the forehead. Sinusitis results from inflammation and swelling of the lining of the sinuses and nose. This condition is generally caused by a virus or allergy that triggers the sinuses to produce more mucus. Too much mucus can build up and clog the nasal passages. One type of paranasal sinuses in the cavity around the nose is the maxillary sinus. The difference is, of all the paranasal sinuses, the maxillary sinus has the largest area and is the most prone to problems. One of these problems is an infection in the maxillary sinus, also known as maxillary sinusitis. Most sinusitis resolves on its own within 1-2 weeks. Even so, there are several causes of sinusitis that need special attention. The causes of sinusitis can be different for each person. However, in general, sinusitis can be caused by infection and irritation. Sometimes, sinusitis sufferers even have to have surgery for the sake of healing. The main goal of sinus surgery is to relieve symptoms and reduce infection. If the disorder keeps coming back, there may be something in the nasal cavity that can only be corrected with surgery.
