If you've seen a few of my previous posts you'll know by now that I traveled to Ethiopia. I get asked a lot why I went there as I guess its not exactly a destination most people think of when they think of a holiday.
Ethiopia is the birth place of coffee and I thought it apt to go there as I just love everything about coffee. They have an elaborate coffee ceremony which I really wanted to experience.
This old lady was kind enough to invite me into her home for the daily traditional coffee ceremony.
so they roast the beans on an open fire while they burn incence for the gods/spirits im not so sure?! After they've roasted the beans to a full italian roast they then pretty much crush the beans with anything they can get their hands on.
when i say anything I mean, we crushed the beans with a spare car part that day! 🤣
After the beans have been roasted, it is then brewed and you have to drink three cups in a row. The first being incredibly 'strong' or full bodied and bitter and the following cups a little weaker/ watered down, as they just keep adding more water to the same beans.
Its a very social thing as strangers just sit together wherever and the coffee ladies will dish out coffee, simply rinse the cup in a bowl of water and pour another coffee for the next person, I ended up with Typhoid which wasn't great at all 🤣🤣🤣
All in all, its hard to describe my visit there and what I felt, it was overwhelming and a once in a lifetime experience that's for sure.
I took a flight from a smaller airport which wasnt the big airport in Addis Ababa and this was their only coffee shop.

I resteemed it, and intentionally left it as earning a negative reward. That way people look and wonder why. I then got in my car, drove for 45 minites and went to work. Its now positive I see. I'll help it along a litle more now.
