Here I sit by the confluence of
souvenirs deliberating about you.
My face crinkles in anguish.
I wipe away yesterday’s worries
across my sleepy face.
Last night I tripped over your
broken chin and drowned in
a whirlpool of tears.
Mental guise of you taxes
my rationale.
I vocalize a soliloquy in a desert
of us.
Hoping to re-write history’s
erroneous deeds and recompose
life’s plaintive tune.

Do you remember me?
Or am I just a specter wandering
in the dark side of your brain.
A concoction of your ingenuity.
A dismissive conviction or just a
stuntman raining on your parade.
Am I an archived dusty book with
withering pages?
A scratched mix-tape or the howl
of the wind in a horror movie.

Have you forgotten the
eloquent silence that bound our
souls under moonlight as the
stars aligned just for us.
How our emotions created a
supernova and our hearts
rhymed to a beatless song.
The pristine love whose oath
we took when our masks fell off.
The trails of passion you left
on my skin.
The love that bound us on days
when all we had was each other.

Here I perch at the edge of the
confluence watching leaves
summersault to the ground.
Pining for you- pondering why i
allowed you to leave.
But mostly, if you still think
of me.
