The crystalline waters of Arraial do Cabo make the beaches of the city compared to the Caribbean islands
Arraial do Cabo, in Rio de Janeiro, has natural landscapes reminiscent of the sand strips of the Caribbean islands. Located in the Lakes Region, the coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro, its beaches are paradisiacal and the city is one of the best places to practice diving in the country, for having crystal clear waters and a great diversity of marine life.
Although its population is small, with about 28 thousand inhabitants, the city is crowded, mainly during the summer. Tourists from various regions of Brazil come to know their natural beauty and travelers who are staying in the neighboring cities of Búzios and Cabo Frio usually spend at least a day in the region.
Although the Northeast is famous for having the most beautiful beaches in Brazil, Arraial is worthy of mention. Its white sands and warm climate compose a beautiful landscape that mixes with the rustic inns of the region. Even with the expansion of real estate and the construction of some buildings, the city still has an indoor climate, especially outside the high season.

Boat Tour and Blue Grotto: the main attraction of Arraial is the four-hour boat ride offered by several sailors on schooners. Normally, they leave Praia dos Anjos and pass the most beautiful beaches of the coast, such as Praia do Farol Island and Pontal do Atalaia, one of the most incredible places to see the sunset. The main attraction is the Blue Grotto, surrounded by turquoise water, 30 meters long and 15 meters high. But a warning: when the tide is high, boats can not enter the place.

The famous Forno Beach has a more complicated access, being surrounded by dense vegetation, but is one of the most beautiful in the region. Nossa Senhora dos Remédios Church: The small church is part of the history of colonization in Brazil. Founded in 1506, it was in her that they recited the first mass indoors in the country. It is located next to the arrival mark of Américo Vespucci, who discovered Arraial do Cabo in 1503. It has undergone several restorations and its current structure was made in the 18th century. Diving: those who like to observe marine life will be amazed by the Arraial sea floor and the city is considered one of the best places to do diving and snorkeling. With transparent waters, there are 35 dive sites, among coves and shipwrecks. The great biodiversity is explained by the resurgence phenomenon, also called outcropping, when surface water rises, causing several nutrients to appear and feeding several species.
Oceanographic Museum: located in the historical center of Arraial do Cabo, the museum has a collection of navigational instruments and objects of shipwrecks. Its inauguration aimed to expose the skeleton of an orca whale that ran aground in the city in the years 1980 and that is possible to be observed until today.
