Henry Graves Jr. paid Patek Philippe $15,000 in 1925 approximately $200,000 in todays money for the Supercomplication, he was an avid collector of prestige luxury watches and commissioned Patek to make extraordinary watches and in doing so probably helped them master the art by creating timepieces of this magnitude. The watch was handed to him in 1933 when completed after 8 years of meticulous craftsmanship and consisting of 24 complications including functions such as a perpetual calendar, sunrise and sunset times, minute repeater with Westminster Chimes, and a celestial chart based on the night sky above Graves’ home in New York.
