Last week I did an introduction in to an acting career... it is a rarity that you go from a no name actor to the big show! Can it happen? Sure... does it happen all the time? Well no. So how do you prepare. I suggest you start with a great acting coach so you can build your confidence. This will help you grow as an actor. If you can not afford a coach watch acting videos. You can search for them... my acting coach has some available. You can look here for hers. Search for well know actors for Goalcast or even directors like Ron Howard. Even some of the websites I mentioned last week have training available. The good thing about attending a class is the immediate feedback.
Now a few other areas you can work on by yourself is to read scripts. Here is a place for Free Monologues. Memorize one for practice, record yourself acting the part out. If you need someone to watch it ask friends you can trust to give you an honest opinion, Contact me here to ask for feedback. The idea is to have other opinions on what you are attempting to do.
The final part for this week is to continue attending productions as an extra so you can learn the business. Like I said at the beginning... it is a process of growing and learning. Get involved with student films, start with a small speaking part (maybe 1 line), short films. or like in the Dallas Fort Worth area attend Rack Focus. This is a competition that involves film makers, actors, crews, etc. Great place to learn! You can simply search on Facebook for Rack Focus to fin more information. also, search for your city & state Film Commission. There you can find list of productions, acting coaches and more. Even work for actors... Until next time... Enjoy yourself... Relax... have some fun!
